Description

Flemming Lassen designed the overstuffed easy chair, The Tired Man, for The Copenhagen Cabinetmakers’ Guild Competition in 1935. It is characterised by organic, bearlike shapes and then as now it created a sensation with its curved form and voluminous armrests. Sitting in the chair should, in Flemming Lassen’s own ords, be “as warm and safe as a polar bear cub in the arms of its mother in the middle of the ice cap”. The family man Flemming Lassen valued intimate relationships – with its warm exterior, The Tired Man invokes domestic cosiness and socialising by candlelight.

NB: Do you want a matching footstool? We recommend purchasing the footstool for The Tired Man together with the lounge chair, as the coloring on by Lassen’s furniture in sheepskin can vary. Sheepskin is a natural product, where the colour, structure and the length of the wool fiber can vary from product to product. We therefore recommend purchasing the The Tired Man lounge chair and footstool together to avoid any differences.

For the brothers Mogens Lassen (1901 – 1987) and Flemming Lassen (1902 – 1984), there was never any doubt that they would become architects. They were born into an artistic family and the ability to create came to them naturally. While other neighborhood boys played with toy cars, the brothers spent their time surveying buildings and sketching them. They were born to be architects and they both took on their roles with pride.
